Blog Tour: So Much It Hurts by Melanie Dawn - hosted by I Love Indie Books

Rating:  4 out of 5 stars

Excerpt from the book:

I sat with my back to the stage. My friends and I were laughing hysterically at the fools we had made of ourselves during our poor rendition of Aretha Franklin’s song, Respect. Downing a few drinks prior to our performance gave me enough liquid courage to embarrass myself on stage. I had immersed myself so deeply in the conversation that I barely noticed karaoke had ended and a band had started setting up on stage.
In the background, a voice emerged from the microphone. “Testing…one, two, three. Testing…”
The hair on the back of my neck stood upright. My body seemed to recognize the smooth and soothing voice, but my mind could not recall it. I quickly spun around in my seat and peered at the figure on stage. However, we sat too far away, and the terrible lighting in the bar restricted my view.
“What’s the matter, Kaitlyn?” Shannon sounded concerned. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“That voice…it sounds so familiar. I’ve heard it before,” I stammered.

I'm not sure how to begin.  I have several emotions about this book.  I enjoyed it.  But there were times I hated what the main character was going through and had some serious emotions.  The struggle of her first years through the flashbacks was tough.  I wanted to throat punch her jackass of a boyfriend Trevor several times.  Although I struggle with the decisions that Kaitlyn makes, it doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the book or the storyline.  This is fiction.  It's not my decisions, nor would it be something that I could do.  However, just as in real life, I found myself not wanting to judge the decisions of the main character of the book.  It's a highly entertaining story and Melanie delivers on great story flow.   The characters develop nicely and you get a good feel for what Kaitlyn struggles with in everyday mundane life.  This is a very well written debut novel.  Congrats Melanie!!  YAY!!

Melanie Dawn is a thinker, a dreamer, and a hopeless romantic. When her head isn't in the clouds, she spends her time as a jack of all trades to her family. Melanie resides in the hills of North Carolina with her husband, her three children, and her cat. She enjoys lazy summer afternoons cruising around the lake on the pontoon boat with her family.
Melanie graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in Psychology and earned her MA in School Counseling from Appalachian State University. She spent the first six years after graduate school as a middle school counselor. Those were years she deems as some of the best years of her life. That is, until she had children of her own. The last seven years have been spent as a stay-at-home mom. She has learned some tough life lessons, like what the inner absorbent pellets of a diaper look like scattered in the washing machine. She has also learned the strength of the willpower of a two year old lacking a nap. Through it all, Melanie has learned how to roll with the punches and appreciate the time she has been able to spend at home with her children.
Now that her last child has started Kindergarten, Melanie is ready to add a new chapter in her life. That chapter begins with her debut novel—So Much It Hurts.

Where one story ends, often another begins. For some reason, Adam Davenport can’t see past the ending. The hit and run has forced him to slow down and stop running from the pain of losing his parents. He has tried to hide behind meaningless, superficial relationships and even more shallow friendships, but the time has come to face his loneliness. Now he is finally ready to start being a family with his brother Sam. However, Sam and Haley, who was once Sam’s personal assistant, are too busy basking in their newfound love. Though breaking the rules for the first time ever has changed Sam’s life for the better, Adam has always broken the rules, strayed from responsibility, and done as little as he could get away with.

One of the main reasons that he refused to believe that Cammie was more than friend material was because she was impervious to his charms. She was so driven and determined to make her new catering company a success that she couldn’t see past her own dreams. Suddenly, Adam found himself behaving in ways he never imagined. He was working to impress a woman, but more than that, he was working to help make her dreams come true. He soon realizes that there are times in life when giving is more important than taking and when helping someone else is more important than what that person can do to reciprocate. He also learns there are times that the biggest risk is to stop hiding from emotions and to start allowing love to finally be found.

Cover Reveal: Jet (A Marked Man Novel) by Jay Crownover

Today we have a cover reveal for Jet by Jay Crownover.  I loved Rule.  Jet's book sounds fantastic!  Can't wait!  We will post pre order links and information as soon as we have it.  For now, enjoy the synopsis and the cover.

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.
Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.
Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

Blog Tour: Rock My Bed by Michelle Valentine

Rock My Bed is live on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Today, Ravishing Romances has a guest appearance from Aubrey of Rock My Bed.  We asked where her love of Bad Boys originates and this is the answer:

Aubrey’s from a very conservatitve world where her mother likes to try and control every aspect of her life to make her a perfect lady. The one thing her mother could never decide for her is who she slept with. At first, it was an act of defiance to be with a guy that’s totally unlike anything she ever knew, but she quickly became addicted. Bad boys know how to cut loose and have fun, which is what drew her in. She likes feeling free and men like Riff make her forget herself and life’s daily stresses when she’s with them.

Review: Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder

Amazon  ~  B&N

Book Blurb:
I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way. Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.
5 out of 5 Fairy Tale Stars

How are the story lines?
gripping and amazing

How are the sex scenes?
believable and sensual with a sense of eroticism

Would you recommend this to your friends?
Yes!  Everyone should read this book.

I need a minute....

ok. WOW! I love Jasinda's prior work. I'm glad I got this book. I now will be the proud owner of a paperback version (which I only get if I truly love the book enough)

I didn't know anything about the book. I hadn't had the opportunity to research it or read the blurb first. I'm glad I didn't. I went into this book completely blind and opinion free.

First, I loved the growth of the relationship between Nell and Kyle. How sweet to get the chance to watch them grow from friends for so long only to have it turn into a real attraction and getting to fall in love with your best friend. About a 1/4 of the way into the book, I found myself freaking out and crying. Not knowing anything about how she loses Kyle - I couldn't believe what I was reading and thought oh no - her life is going to be miserable.

Enter Colton Calloway - and what an entrance. Although it appeared to be "instant attraction" and a lot of you readers don't believe in that stuff, this story has a bit of a twist in the fact that Jasinda surprises you and they aren't together immediately. Fate is what brings these two back to each other. I believe in fate. Fate is a constant in my opinion so that made this story totally believable to me. Instant attraction can be real - it just depends on if anyone acts on it or not. These two did not. Fate just happened to intervene.

When Colton and Nell finally meet up again, the real bulk of the story builds. Both are broken in their own right and in their own way. Now the story is all about how he teaches her that it's okay to grieve and that it's okay to miss Kyle and FEEL the guilt and the pain. Don't push it all down and surpress it. FEEL it. This is where the book gets deep and shows you how the past can destroy us or it can make us who we are and in the end we all control our own destiny and how we survive tragedy.

This book will make you feel - so if you're not a fan of being engrossed in the characters and being invested in what happens to them or how they feel, then it's not the book for you. If

that's how you enjoy reading - then BUY this book! It's so worth your time.

Contest!!! Where's Parker & Seducing Cinderella

The Parker/Reid World Domination Contest!!!

Raise your hand if you like hunky, hot romance heroes!

Do we have everyone’s attention? Awesome!

Now raise your hand if you remember the game Where’s Waldo?

You may be wondering what those two completely different things have in common. Well, from February 26th to March 22nd, The Maxwell Mob – the one and only Romance Mafia forNew York Times bestselling author Gina L. Maxwell – invites you to participate in what will no doubt be the sexiest game of Where’s Waldo? to date.

Seducing Cinderella, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling novel from Entangled Publishing, hits store shelves on February 26th for its paperback debut, featuring the one and only Parker Hurley on the cover. Parker, as you may (or may not) know, was the inspiration for MMA star and super-hunk Reid Andrews.  While the world – mainly the Mob – is excited about Parker being on the cover, we began to ponder, where else in the world has this amazing model been?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find Parker! The contest rules are simple. The prizes? Sizzling. Let’s show the world that the Maxwell Mob truly does dominate and that Gina L. Maxwell really does bring us Romance that moves you in more ways than one!

World Domination Contest Rules:
  1. You need to join the Maxwell Mob. Besides being the most awesome Romance group in the history of ever, it’s a great deal of fun, and being a Mobster gives you exclusive access to advance excerpts, interviews, cover reveals, and you get to hang out with Gina. It’s a win/win. You can join on Facebook or on Goodreads – although the Facebook group is more active and it allows for all of the goodies. However, if you don’t have a Facebook account, don’t let that discourage you. If you are a Goodreads user, let us know. We’ll make sure you get the goods as well!
  2. Have a paperback copy* of Seducing Cinderella.
*In the interest of global fairness: for those NOT in the U.S. and unable to receive a paperback version of SC before the end of the contest, use a printed copy of the cover image somewhere in the photin place of the paperback. THEN, attach a picture/screenshot of your paperback purchase/receipt to the email entry along with your entry picture. This makes it fair for everyone!
  3. Now here’s where the fun begins. Find Parker. And you can find him anywhere. Parker Hurley has done cover shoots for nationwide outlets such as Kohl’s and has modeled for companies like Dockers. You can really find this fellow anywhere; he’s even been seen on the back of a city bus. Chances are he may be in your house in a local ad somewhere right now! If you cannot find him in public, then get creative with collages or magazines; print out pictures…anything…so long as it’s moderately tasteful. (We did say moderately.)
  4. Take a picture with Parker and your copy of Seducing Cinderella! We want creativity! Get crazy with it! Some examples could be dressing up in costumes or duping your poor significant other into playing the role of Reid to your Lucie (in things they wore in the book, of course). We stress this part – THE MORE CREATIVE, THE BETTER. You may enter the contest more than once, but make sure it’s with a different theme. Send your awesome pictures to with the following:
    1. Name
    2. Email
    3. Location (store, etc. + city, state, country)
    4. Blog name you’re representing (only if applicable)
    5. Description (optional)
  5. Contestants may submit their pictures through March 22nd. All pictures will be posted to this public Pinterest board so you can scope out the competition. Mob Officers will select the Top Ten finalists, and Parker Hurley will choose the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. You heard right: the Parker Hurley will be choosing the winners, so make these entries count!
  6. So what do you get if you win? Excellent question. Gina has put together prize packages that we’re sure will tempt anyone to run to the bookstore, pull out a camera, and get clicking.
